Conclusion of the Period for Implementing the Decision Prohibiting Work Under Direct Sunlight

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in coordination with the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, announces the conclusion of the designated implementation period of Ministerial Decision No. (3337), dated 15/7/1435 AH, concerning the prohibition of work under direct sunlight across all establishments.
The decision remained in effect for three months, from Sunday, 15 June 2025, until Monday, 15 September 2025, between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The decision reflects the commitment of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health to safeguarding workers’ safety and health and providing them with a safe and healthy working environment in accordance with occupational safety and health requirements.
During the implementation period, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development intensified its field inspection campaigns across various regions of the Kingdom to ensure establishments’ compliance with the decision. The compliance rate among establishments this year reached 94%.
A total of 2,192 additional field visits were conducted as part of inspection campaigns to monitor implementation of the decision, with regulatory penalties applied to non-compliant establishments. A total of 244 violations were recorded. The inspection campaigns also included responding to reports submitted to the Ministry, which totaled 325 reports.
As part of these efforts, the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health launched a comprehensive awareness campaign that included the publication of informational and guidance materials through its social media platforms. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among employers and workers of the importance of complying with the decision and to introduce preventive measures that contribute to protecting workers’ health and safety.
The Ministry and the National Council affirm that these awareness and regulatory efforts form part of an integrated framework aimed at strengthening a culture of prevention, achieving full compliance with applicable regulations, and ensuring workers’ safety across different workplaces, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to improve the working environment and enhance occupational safety and health standards.
